Handling: Året är 1996 och Alexandra "Alex" Griffith har precis gått ut sitt sista år på Hogwarts. Det vuxna livets problem blandas med rädslan och oron som uppstått efter Voldemorts officiella återkomst.

Snabb bakgrundsinfo:
Alexandra är mugglarfödd, båda hennes föräldrar var alltså mugglare, däremot är hennes morbor en trollkarl. När Alex var åtta var hon och hennes föräldrar med om en fruktansvärd bilkrasch som henens föräldrar dog i, men som hon själv mirakulöst klarade sig ur (med hjälp av magi förstås, men det förstod ingen då). Hennes föräldrar fick alltså aldrig veta att deras dotter var en häxa.
Alex flyttade in hos sin morbror som gift sig med en halvblodig häxa.
Vid elva års ålder fick hon sitt brev och började på Hogwarts samma år som Fred och George Weasley. Historien utspelar sig däremot som sagt sommaren efter hennes sjunde år, alltså i slutet av femte boken/sjätte boken om Harry Potter.

Alex skriver även brev till sin vän i Frankrike, Marie och vissa av dom kommer ni få läsa.

Åh vad roligt! Ska genast börja skriva! Det första inlägget kommer vara utdrag från hennes brev till Marie, och jag är bara nästan klar med det, hehe.

Okej, nuså! Ledsen att det tog så lång tid, min dator kraschade och dokumentet som jag skrivit ner allting i försvann -.- Tur att jag skrev ner i princip allting på papper först!

July 24th 1996
Dear Marie
Summer's just started and Auntie Rosie and Uncle Ben are already talking about my future. "What do you want to work with?" "Why don't you apply for a job at the Ministry?" "What are you going to do with your life?" Blah, blah, blah! I'm so sick of it! It's like, back off, it's my choice, don't put so much pressure on me! I mean, I know it's important to get a job and make some money so I can buy a house and start a family and all of that, but I'm only seventeen years old. All right, I'll be eighteen in a month, but what's the difference really? Even if I am of age I'm still a child, I shouldn't have to make decision like these! I honestly haven't got a clue what I want to work with. I didn't get enough NEWTs to become and auror, and I don't have the nerves to be a healer. I'm an awful teacher, so a career at Hogwarts wouldn't be an option, unless I wanted to help Filch with the cleaning, which I don't. I'm not one for adventures and travelling, so I couldn't be an explorer. I hate cooking, and standing in an empty wizarding equipment's shop or a stinking apothecary could be the most boring thing ever. It would be really cool to work in a joke shop though, but neither uncle Ben nor Auntie Rosie would approve of it. I already know exactly how they would react if I told them.
"What a waste of time!" "But you're such a clever girl!" "You? Open up a joke shop? HA! You can't even recognize a joke if it's jumping up and down in front of you wearing a bright pink wig!"
That last comment would be from my cousin, Kevin. All of it's rubbish of course, I'm really not that clever and I can too recognize a joke! I just don't think they're funny when I'm trying to concentrate on homework, or if I'm really tired or really busy or really stressed of if I just don't want a lot of noise around me!

We're going to Diagon Alley this weekend, maybe I'll be able to find some small, boring job behind the counter of one of the shops there. It's not really the ideal work, but I'll just have to think about it as a way to make some money while I look for something I really want to do. At least it'll get Auntie Rosie and Uncle Ben off my back.

Längtar till nästa kapitel

Åh, tack! Det kommer nog ta lite längre tid tills nästa kapitel läggs upp. Ursprungligen är vissa av breven som hon skriver till Marie en uppgift vi har i engelskan som ska lämnas in om en vecka, och jag har bara kommit halvvägs, så måste fokusera på det i förstahand. Men jag uppdaterar förstås så fort som möjligt!

Ta den tid du behöver, jag väntar

Förlåt typ tusenmiljoner gånger! Jag har verkligen inte haft någon inspiration och skrivit om nästa inlägg tusen gånger och aldrig blivit nöjd och nu orkar jag bara inte mer. Så det här inlägget blir sjukt kort, och så hoppar jag över allt jag tänkt skriva i slutet för det gick inte bra. Alls. I fortsättningen kommer det bli nästan bara brev, för det är dom jag känner att jag kan skriva just nu.
Så, här kommer nästa inlägg, och det blir som sagt väldigt kort. Men jag hoppas kunna skriva nästa inlägg (som blir längre, jag lovar!) ganska snart. Innan jul i alla fall.

The dark-haired girl put down her quill, got up and walked across the room to the window, where a brown owl’s honey coloured eyes watched her through the bars of a big birdcage. With a small hoot the owl put out her leg as the girl opened the cage, and as soon as the letter was tied there, spread her wings and took off out through the open window into the early evening, leaving the girl alone in the dimly lit room. Alexandra Griffith stood watching the dark speck of brown that was her owl grow smaller and smaller for a couple of seconds. Then the ringing voice of her aunt reached her from the hallway. “Alex darling, come help me clean up in the kitchen, will you?” With a heavy sigh she turned around and walked out of the room.
