prolog: Thirsty. So thirsty. I needed water and it was no where near me, instead I was stuck in my classroom as my alegbra teacher Mrs. Bennet explained to a student how to solve the equation written on the board. I liked Mrs. Bennet she was patient with students and didn't make new students introduce themselves in front of the whole class.

But, I couldn't think about that right now, I couldn't focus on anything else but my thirst. my mouth was dry except for the saliva I kept producing as a subsitute for the water I needed.

I had never been so thirsty in my entire life.

My throat yearned for the refreshing liquid to run down inside it, but there wasn't a trace of it anywhere. There was still a good forty-five minutes before class ended, and never before in my life had I wanted my water bottle with me as I did now.

I forgot to take it with me this morning when I left for school, I was running late and only when I was half-way there that I realized it wasn't with me and I couldn't turn back and retrieve it.

I didn't think I'd need it all that much, but now I was angry at myself for not bringing the water bottle with me. I stared at the clock, I couldn't wait any longer, I decided to raise my hand and ask for the hall pass to find the nearst water fountain.

Slowly, I raised my hand and waited for her to notice, she did. She gave me the hall pass and as soon as I was out of sight, I ran. Unfortunately, I tripped over my legs and slipped on the dirty blue tiles floor.

When I looked down, I saw that I didn't have legs anymore, I had a tail.
A large purple glimmering fish tail. Oh, God, I thought, I'm a mermaid.
