New generation benders

Herkio petted Eis over her feathers and was happy that nobody seemed to mind the bird. Maybe some thought it was another spirit or something. He wasn't sure how a spirit looked when people could see them, maybe they just looked like animals?
A while later the waitress came back with their food. She put the fish soup by Herkio, the veggie soup by Ela and the other things to the others.
Herkio took the piece of breath he had gotten and broke it in smaller pieces and let it lie on the table. He started to eat his soup with one of his hands and Eis jumped down his other arm and stood on his hand and eat of the bread crumbles. "This almost tastes like home" he mumbled to himself when he felt the familiar taste of fish. He missed his home sometime, it was a bit to warm around here for his liking, so he missed the ice and snow as well. But he also liked being away from it.

"Do you miss it?" Bipin asked Herkio curious. "I can't imagine living on one of the poles, I'm not that good with the cold." He continued as some kind of statement or maybe just some random trivia. Ela took a mouthful of soup and let the warmth run through her. She had eaten it before, she had been in Kuro before. Last time she hid from the spirits but she has a feeling Bipin is that kind of avatar who will jump right into the danger like an idiot. There's no huge disaster threatening the world currently so that is what will probably happen since the chase for excitement is in his other lives. However this is... well, not the first time but one of few where the Avatar has no disaster to deal with... yet. The world usually just flies off the balance and falls apart eventually. Ela keeps eating, remembering that major fact. Balance is important and it can be thrown off at any moment. She needs the strength to be able to deal with it.

Herkio slowly nodded and ate some more of his soup before he continued to talk. "I'm from the south pole. And I don't mind the cold" he smiled. "On the other hand, I find the weather here far too hot and sweaty. How can you guys survive without ice and snow?" he wondered and ate more soup again. "But yeah, I miss my home. I was a year ago I left it. But I will always have a part of it". He nodded to Eis before he opened his leather bag and got out the water. "This water is from the pole, when I miss my home I just touch this and it feels like I'm there again".

"Well, Ela lived by volcanoes so she's the one with the hottest home here I think." Ryuu said when he was finished and got this really weird smug expression. "I actually lived on the Noth Pole when I was a child, my grandmother was a waterbender and my mother moved there since my dad died. Then I've just traveled around since my grandmother became Bipins waterbending master." He continued with a shrug. "However I prefer the warmth." Ryuu continued smiling. "What about you, Hye?" He asked with a "charming" smile. "It's got to be kinda cold up in the mountains."

Herkio nodded. "That sounds awfully hot". He had never been by a volcano, he had seen one, but it had been far away. But he didn't wanna go to one either. "What, is your grandma his waterbending master?". He seemed really suprised by this and just looked at Ryuu. "Well, I can't understand how you prefer hot climats" he mumbled and then looked at Hye. He continued to eat his soup as they waited for her answer. Eis was now full and made her way up to his shoulder again.

"Snowstorms, mate. There aren't any snowstorms if it isn't cold." Ryuu replied and laughed softly. Ela just kept on eating but she did listen to them. Hopefully they'd all just settle with volcanoes. She would.
"I'm from the eastern air temple, I was born in Republic City though." She answered and petted the lemur who was in her lap and was... kind of purring or something. He enjoyed himself anyway.
"So with the monks?" Ela asked to keep conversation going.
"Yep, they were pretty boring though so me and a couple of others went to the contest in the city." Hye continued and shrugged slightly.
"What about you, Bipin? What's your story?" Hye asked with a curious gleam in her eye. Bipin seemed uncertain, however they knew he ended up in Republic City somehow... they didn't know much else really.

Herkio slowly nodded. He actually had a good point there. He didn't miss the snowstorms, or when it was so cold that they couldn't even go out because they would freeze their feet off. But usually it wasn't so cold, mostly just light snowing and ice. In the 'summer' it became more water than ice and a little bit warmer.
He tunred his head to Bipin as well, they were all curius about him. Bipin cleared his troat. "Well...I was born in a small village, far away from Republic City" he said and leaned back in his chair. "I guess I had a pretty ordinary life until I found out that I could bend earth. And one day when I succeeded with bending some fire as well my parents took me into the city and to the masters so they would train me. That was about six years ago". And since that he had been trained very well in earth and firebending, but he hadn't done anything else.

"Sounds pretty good." Ela commented and felt like sleeping. She had finished her soup and now she wanted to sleep. Ryuu had the room keys... there were only two of them so she supposed that they were going to share. Of course, it's better than sharing with strangers anyway. Ela stared at the keys and since she had spoken Ryuu saw it and threw one of the keys to her.
"There you go. Second floor." He said with a grin.
"Oh, am I your roomate, Ela?" Hye said and seemed to be excited.
"I suppose." Ela replied rising from her chair to walk up to her room.
"Hey, how was it living next to a volcano?" Bipin asked and Ela turned her head towards him.
"Pretty normal, expect the constant threat of eruption." She replied as some kind of joke. "Good night." She continued and walked off. Hye was quick to follow her with her little monster.

Herkio had finished his soup as well and felt pretty content except that he was tired. They all needed to sleep before they could continue their trip. But he wasn't too keen on sitting on that flying bison again. But they had to continue anyway.
"Well goodnight" he said to Ela and Hye as they walked away to their room. He gueesed he had to share with Bipin and Ryuu. But it wasn't too bad.
"Well shall we go up as well?" he asked and stood up. Since no one said no they started to walk towards their room. But there was just two beds. "Take the beds" Herkio said to them and took his backpack of his back. "I can sleep on the floor. It's too hot in the bed anyway". He stared to take out the blankets he had to make it comfortable.

As Ela entered the room Hye ran to one of the beds and claimed it as her own. It was the one closest to the window. Ela smiled and shook her head slightly before going to the other bed. She hadn't realize until now that Hye had her bag and she realized this now because Hye dumped it next to Elas bed. Ela pulled one of her blankets out, her mother had made it for her and it smelled a bit like volcanic ash and sulphur... mostly it smelled of home though. Sometimes she got terribly homesick. So bad that it ached inside of her, however the blanket had been sufficient in keeping it at bay for now.
"Good night, Ela." Hye whispered out into the darkness however she was met with silence as Ela had fallen into a deep sleep.

Ela was wandering through her home village. Seeing the red houses in a mix of fire and earth nation architecture. She was walking around, she was confused about something. She was searching for something. Just as she was about to enter her home and go back to bed someone grabbed her and turned her around completely whilst strangling her. Ela coughed and tried to get away.
"Disappointment..." Her own voice echoed and when she tried to open her mouth to scream for help a bird screech escaped her mouth instead and she got dropped. She landed on the largest volcano in the area around her home and she was pretty safe. She turned, met her own glowing eyes.
"Destiny..." It said and she got pushed down.

When Ela opened her eyes and sat straight up the sun had barely gone up and she was bathing in her own sweat. Stupid nightmares.
