The bold Gryffindors unsheathed their valiant sword.

They fought with the spells not long perfected

In the same beloved school that their talent protected.

Though the battle was won and Hogwarts was saved,

Our loved ones did not escape unscathed.

Never deny that their courage was real.

Never deny the sorrow you feel

For the deaths of the many we loved and lost:

Lupin, Dumbledore, Snape, Fred, and Tonks

And the other souls who dedicated their lives

To deliver peace in the most chaotic of times.

When you feel your love for them slipping away,
