Catalina knew that, of course. She had heard of him before she even thought about hunting him. He was infamous. He had stolen many things and annoyed many, both criminals and more noble people. Suddenly she thought of something. He was wanted in the village they where going to, even if he knew people there, it had to be someone that would try to capture him, and even maybe do it. She hoped someone would do. She couldn't stand him.
She had just continued walking, but completly froze on the spot when he called her Kitty. She had an empty gaze and starred in front of hem before she suddenly turned around and held the arrow towards his throat, her face really close to his. She was angry, really angry. But under all that anger pain and fear could be seen in her eyes. "Don't call me Kitty ever again". She then turned around and took a deep breath. Out of all nicknames, she couldn't stand that. Kitty was a common nickname for her. It was her parents that had begun using it many years ago. And everyone had called her that. But some years ago, well three years to be exact. She had been taken by force by a man she knew. And he had just said her name all the time, mocked her. And after that accident she didn't stand the nickname. "Don't call me that..." she whispered and her voice almost cracked. The memories where horrible. Her family had killed the man for it. But the scars never disappeared. It didn't bother here when she had fun with someone she liked, but when she heard that nickname, it all came back to her. She clenched her fists and closed her eyes so the tears that appeared couldn't be seen.

Chal literally took half a step forward when she pressed the arrowhead to his throat.
"Meh, that's to dull to pose an actual threat, Cat." He was going to nickname her whatever he felt like. If Kitty wanted to kill him over one nickname he'd just take inspiration from it to another. "It'd do ya better to use the bow and just shoot me dead with it, Ihaas." Ihaas was a word from his childhood and was usually pointed on the ones who couldn't decide on what path to choose. Chal could speak in the "thief"-language fluently. In fact the name of the language was Kauthu, speaking Kauthu wasn't hard if you grew up with it. It was a language that the thieves used so that the higher-ups wouldn't know what the heck they were talking about. It worked, when someone tried to spread the words they were killed. If that didn't work, they had their tongues ripped out. The language wasn't supposed to be spread around, which pretty much meant that loose words here and there was okay. "All right, I won't." He smiled as he walked up to her, next to her. "So what does a guy do to make ya smile, Gloomy?" He continued with the nicknames, believing that he could annoy her to one. Catalina knew that he would just continue with the nicknames, trying to ger her to explode. And she could take any nickname in the world, except for Kitty. It made her so upset, out of balance that even her own parents didn't understand totally how it made her feel. Nobody did. Even if years had passed it still made her upset.
She took a deep breath and loosened her fists and opened her eyes, a bit of the anger was still there. "Well, don't give me any ideas" she muttered to him. She felt like killing him, but she didn't. It was his fault that she was so upset, but he couldn't have known how she would feel about that nickname. She finally begun to walk again when he walked up to her. She turned her head to him. "Start with not calling me Kitty" she said again and then said. "But seriously, that nickname..I have history with it and hearing it brings it back up". She then became quiet for a while. Why did she even tell him that? But then she thought about his question, did he want to se her smile? "I don't know...". She just continued to walk and placed the arrow back in her quiver. It felt like it had been a long time ago since she smiled now, it wasn't much she had to smile for, mostly alone, just killing things. But what made her smile when she was in company of others? Normally she would say compliments, but when he complimented her it just made her annoyed. "Well I don't....". She became quiet and quickly took her bow from her back and placed an arrow on the string before she shot. A big, fat bird fell down from the sky, and for some quick seconds a small smile could be seen on her lips. She took up the bird and hung it in her belt, she could sell it in the city.

"Ah! You're that kinda gal! You smile at success!" Chal said happily since he had kind of gone past her and kneeled a bit so that he'd be able to see her face properly. "A bit o' a shame, I could've seen it earlier if I hadn't ran off." Chal sighed heavily but somehow the sarcasm could be heard on the sigh as well. He kind of meant it though, just kind of. Chal straightened up pretty quick and started walking again. He had this dumb smile on his face now, like he had won something. Chal didn't really give a damn about how it looked, Chal was pretty happy as well. He had kind of won something, he thought so anyway. It was really, really silly though, Chal understood that as well. The town wasn't to far away, not according to his measurements anyway.

Catalina actually wanted to smile again when he seemed so happy, and that grin was pretty stupid, but also kinda cute...Dammit! Now he was charming her again. She shook her head slightly to make the thoughts disappear. She listned to him instead and now she couldn't help but smile a little. "That's probably true". She continued to walk, it wasn't long to the town and soon she could see it. "There it is!". She walked a bit faster until they reached it. She pulled down her hood and put the bow on her back while she walked in. The first thing that her gaze caught was a couple of kids running straight in front of them, playing. That made her smile bigger, she loved kids, atleast when they where happy. "So, where is that smith?" she asked and turned around to face Chal.

"Down the street." Chal pointed towards a larger building further down, he didn't really care about the children. In fact he didn't really like them, he didn't have good experiences from children and the last time a child saw his... special features it almost yanked them off him. "The smith is pretty ol' but damn he knows how the sharpen something to perfection." Chal said looking around almost constantly. He recognized everything, he'd been here before and hopefully the old man wouldn't go around blabbing to guards, not that this town had that many, or some other folks just because Chal was back. Also he'd probably ask about Moggy's planned adventure. Moggy - another word for cat and Chal snickered to himself. Moggy, it was cute but still kind of threatening... maybe. Yeah, Chal will call her Moggy.

Catalina nodded slowly and continued to walk down the street. It wasn't a big town exactly, but big enough. It had small stores, a market and houses. And the smith. That was the most important thing. She suddenly saw a bunch of kids standig around something a bit further down. She came close enough and saw that they where kicking a boy. "Hey!". She sounded angry and walked to thr kids. "Let him be! What have he done you?!". The kids stepped away as they saw her weapons. She helped up the boy before she made her way back to Chal. "I hate bullies" she mumbled. Even if the Loree family was feared other kids had often been mean to her because of it as well.
They soon reached the smith and Catalina knocked on the door. It soon opened up and the old smith came out.

Chal sighed as he saw her fight for the boy, what she didn't know was that the children had all the reasons to kick him down. Considering that the little boy was a lying rascal who sent a few good men to their grave when he told them that the monster outside the village was dead. Chal should know, he wasn't anywhere close to dead. He had just started moving again, the boy was partially responsible for the death of a number of childrens fathers dying. Of course, Chal could see her point... it is just that her anger was directed at the wrong people. Still the young boy lying about seeing the corpse of the great cat-monster was all his fault. The men was just a bit to eager when they found him alive, wanted him dead to fast.
"Ya didn't even kno' the kid, damn it." Chal sighed as she came back. "Who knows what that kid did, ey?" He continued and chuckled playfully. "Maybe he's a witch or somethin', blood sacrifices and all o' that junk." He continued, toying with the thought. The door to the smith opened. "What the hell are you doing back here? Weren't you suppose to run?" The smith said and Chal just went inside, didn't even care to wait for the invitation. "I'm guessing you two aint friends, what did he do to you, miss?" The smith sighed and did a motion for her to go inside. "Ah, shut it, ol' man. I haven't done a thing, she's just after me... my bounty." Chal corrected himself as he started looking around the shop. "Instead I mighta promised to pay for anything she asked for. So go 'head and browse 'round, Catnip." Nicknames, all the nicknames. However he just realized catnip is really freaking nice. Famn, he'll get a new one soon enough. "Give the Maker my regards." - Humorous Hawke 29 jan, 2015 21:22 |

Catalina hated seeing so many kids against a little boy that was alone. She didn't care even if he had murdered someone. No one deserved to be beaten and treated so badly by so many at the same time. It was just cowardly to hurt another person with several other persons. And she was pretty sure the boy was innocent, he looked so nice and scared that she wouldn't believe that he had done anything wrong. But she also knew that the most innocent looking people where the most horrible. But not it was too late, she had already helped the kid and he was long gone.
"I don't care" Catalina said to Chal and ignored his sigh. "I don't care what he did either. No one deserves to be beaten up by a mob, it isn't fair in any way, even if the kid had murdered a whole village". When he talked about witches her gaze got darker. "And what's wrong with being a witch huh? As long as they're not hurting people they also deserve respect". She had been called a witch some times just because she was woman that fought and was wearing pants, so she had strong feelings and opinions about that subject. When they finally reached the smith and he opened up Catalina waited until the smith was done talking to Chal, confused why he where there. "Yeah" she nodded when Chal had explained and smiled faintly at the smith. She got in to the shop. She started looking around and twitched slighly when he called her by one of her nicknames again. It would be pretty nice to get rid of him after they where done here. She had soon picked out some arrows so she wouldn't run out of them, two small daggers and a big one and also just some blades so she could repair them if she needed to. "So, done" she said and placed the things on the counter so Chal would pay. She thought about what her next move would be after this, she needed to rest some, restock on food so maybe she would take in on a inn?

"Save the gold, Chal." The smith said as Chal was bringing out his gold pouch. "If you managed to make him want to let go of his gold you deserve it." He then said in the direction of Catnip. Actually, Catnip had a ring to it. Kind of cute, but still a pretty powerful name. Wait a minute, fucking catnip? No, no, no that's like a catdrug. She's not some kind of drug. Ugh, hell no. He refuses... but it is adorable. Catkit? Maybe?
"Pfft, only 'cause ya couldn't doesn' mean noone can." Chal replies and rolls his eyes. The smith doesn't take notice on him. Concentrating on Catnip. Ah, it's stuck! Fucking damn it. "Give the Maker my regards." - Humorous Hawke 15 feb, 2015 23:09 |
