Noel shook his head without any hesitation. For him it was quite obvious that they wouldn't. How would that happen? He rarely spoke with anyone outside of Slytherin and when he did, he spoke to someone in Ravenclaw. Never ever Gryffindor.
"Nope", he said, looking over at her. "Why are you wondering?"

Audrey had come to number 43 when she lost count.
“I don’t know, just wondering. It’s kind of weird if you think about it. The only reason we’re speaking is because of a project, if it hadn’t happened, we wouldn’t be here right now. Makes you wonder how fate really works” she said, and hoped he wouldn’t make fun of her. Fate was kind of a muggle thing, at least she thought so. She shifted, and sat down in the water again.

He started to laugh - he really couldn't help it. Deep conversations about fate, life, and other deep stuff wasn't his thing. In his ears it all sounded like a big joke.
"Please tell me that you're not serious", he struggled to say, because he was still laughing. "Fucking fate." He started to laugh even harder and looked at her, who was now sitting. He wondered what was going through her head.

Well, she was right. Fate was a muggle thing, at least based on Noels reacton.
“You wouldn’t understand” she said flatly and leaned her head on the tubs edge. She looked up at the ceiling again, trying not to get mad. People were allowed their own opinions, after all. Although he didn’t need to laugh, at least not that hard. It wasn’t that unthinkable, to be honest. But then again, she hadn’t hesitated for a second to start laughing if the roles were reversed, so she figured that she kind of deserved it.

His laugh died out when he saw how she reacted. What did he expect, though? For her to laugh with him? She had been serious. And he just laughed at her. Merlin, he was a really horrible person and a Prefect!
"Oh come on", he said, not sounding too serious. It would've felt stupid considering that he was almost dying of laughter just seconds before. "You're not mad, are you?" He felt like he already knew the answer to his question. He himself would've been pissed if she laughed at him that much.

“No, I’m not. I don’t feel like wasting energy of getting mad that you’re having a different opinion than me. Just forget I said anything” she said, looking at the “window” that the room had, which was covered in a bright picture of a mermaid. It was true though, she didn’t feel like getting worked up for something she couldn’t change. He was probably not going to understand her way of thinking anyway, considering their dispute earlier in the afternoon. She took a deep breath and leaned the back of her head in the water, getting her hair wet. It spread out around her under the water, and she closed her eyes again.

He sighed. It had gotten tense between them and it felt like Audrey wasn't keen on changing that matter.
"But you are mad", he said, once again swimming closer to her. "I just don't believe in fate. I'm sorry for laughing, can you say something fun now?"

Audrey shook her head.
“I understood that you don’t, but I do, I have to. Let’s just drop it” she said, and laughed.
“You know I can’t say something fun on cue, right? It’s a gift, not something that can be demanded” she said, grinning and sitting up once again.

Her laugh made him feel relieved and a smile automatically popped up on his lips.
"You've got a big ego, you know that?" he said before starting to laugh. "It's a gift!" He imitated her and basically made fun of her, but it was all for jokes. She would probably understand that, considering that his voice was full of humor.

Audrey laughed again.
“Well, it is a gift. And yes, I know that my ego is probably bigger than Hogwarts itself” she said and grinned. Eric had told her once that his first impression of her had been this self-confident, brave person. It was really just a façade, but it seemed to work most of the times.
“Pfft, I don’t sound like that” she said and smiled.
“You’re bad at imitations, Mr Prefect” she said in a darker voice, trying to mimic Noels voice.
