The Gifted (Privat)

"Well, let's say i shift into you. That will give me your powers, but like a bad copy of it, which means that I'll run fast, but not as fast as you do" she explains and shape shifts into Shawn. She runs off a few meters ahead, and does it fast, but not as fast as he would do it. She shifts back into herself.
"Like that" she says and shrugs.She bits her lip and hesitates for a few seconds.
"The not-so-nice part is that this isn't my normal appearance. I wasn't born with black hair and green eyes, so to say" she says and shakes her head.

"That's not fair! You basically have millions of gifts and us others only get one! Also, that was fricking weird, seeing myself like that. I feel sorry for all of you who have to look at me", I say and laugh. I'm actually kind of jealous. That's one of the best gifts I could think of.
"No way, can you show me what you really look like?", I ask her and smile. Why would she change her normal appearance? She can't be that ugly.

"Well, I guess it's pretty unfair" she says and blushes a bit. She takes a deep breath and looks at him.
"Promise you won't tell anyone at school" she says and changes. Now, her skin is blue with darker blue patterns all over her body, and the patterns are more concentrated around certain parts of her body, which means that she doesn't require clothes. Her hair is red and is slicked back. Her eyes are yellow with no pupils. She looks at Shawn.
"This is why I never show myself in my true skin, I was born like this. Imagine my parents reaction" she says and sighs. She turns back into her black haired self.
"I met this girl at a trip to Europe, and I decided to use her appearance when I'm with other people" she says and looks around for wherever Stella could be.

"I promise, I'll be as quiet as a mouse", I say with a smile and I mean it. I watch her body slowly turn blue. I scan her whole body, head to toe. She's not wearing any clothes but I guess it's not necessary, because her body is covered in dark blue patterns. Still, I try not to focus too much on anything other than her face. She does look unusual, for sure. A bit scary, if I'm being honest but it does look quite beautiful at the same time. She's like what I imagine aliens look like.
"Yes. I can imagine their reaction" I say nodding. "Not because it looks bad, really it's beautiful. Just not what they expected" I say quick, when I realize how rude I just sounded. "What made you this way?" I ask her, looking up at her normal self. Well, not her normal self, but the version of her I'm used to.

"Genes, I guess. The Gift comes from a mutated gene, as you know, and I guess mine evolved very early, already at birth" she says and shrugs.
"The problem with that was that I couldn't control it until I was around 7, which made it very hard for my parents to lose me in a big crowd" she says and laughs. "It was this one time when we were at a amusement park, and I ran after a dog, and happened to change my appearance. It took like 2 hours for my parents to find me, and they couldn't ask for help since they didn't know what I looked like" she says and smiles at the memory. However, it also makes her a bit sad. She has never really found her own identity, always taken other peoples appearances.

I laugh with her at the silly story. It's getting really hard to see, it's getting darker with every step, since we're getting deeper in the woods.
"I hope she isn't lost, it's so dark", I sigh. It shouldn't bee that hard to find the way to the big rock thought, if that's where she is. It's not that far and a path has started to take form because of all the people who have walked there.

Tempi sighs and looks around. Where could she be? As if she could read her mind, Stella appears on the rock in front of them.
"Hey" says Tempi and sits down next to her. She sees that Stella holds something that has been folded for a long time, probably been in her pocket for a while. She frowns and takes it from her. She looks at it, and back at Stella.
"A cure? What's this?"
"I got it a long time ago from a woman, non-Gifted. They have developed a cure for the gene that causes the Gifts, it's a substance that will inhibit the gene and make the Gift disappear" she explains and Tempi looks at Shawn, worried.

My heart skips a beat when I see Stella sitting on the rock. I was so worried something might have happened to her. I'm unsure if I should talk or not. I don't know Stella and she's not in the most stable state emotionally right now, but I decide to say something anyway.
"Are you going to take the cure?" I say and hope she's not going to be mad at me for coming woth Tempi to look for her. Stella turns around and looks at me. She hadn't noticed I was there yet. She shrugs and looks down at her hands.
"I don't know. I've had this in my pocket for the longest time because I've been trying to decide", Stella says. I can tell that her gift has given her a hard time. I nod. Of course there would be a lot lf benefits for her taking the cure. She wouldn't hurt anyone, she'd be able to live a normal life with a family and a job, but a cure just seems kind of sketchy to me.

Tempi shakes her head.
"You can't take a cure, you'll have to change schools and everything!" she says and Stella glares at her.
"Easy for you to say, you don't hurt people with your gift" she snaps and Tempi sighs.
"You know the teachers are trying to find out if you'll be able to control it or not, why don't you wait until you know for sure?" she asks and Stella shakes her head.
"You don't understand" she says and jumps down from the rock. She heads towards the school.
"Let's go face the angry mob" she says and starts walking away.
