He had been standing there for a while when Audrey turned up. As she came closer he started to smile, to show that he was in a better mood now than before.
"Yup", he said, still smiling, his eyes briefly looking down at her scar. Knowing where it came from kind of made it strange to look at. Honestly, the story behind it was strange, so his reaction was acceptable.
He, once again, shoved his hands down his pockets and started walking towards the Great Hall.

Audrey nodded and smile. It had probably been a temporary mood swing. God knows she had tons of those. She noticed how he briefly looked at her cleavage, but she had a feeling it wasn't because of her boobs this time.
“It smells great!” she said and sniffed in the air. She was really hungry. She sat down at a table and started to fill her plate. She stuffed her mouth and leaned back in her chair. She noticed that people around her was staring, but she didn’t care. Or at least she didn’t show that she cared. She swallowed and looked over at Noel.
“So, what did Mr Prefect do during the little break?” she said and grinned. She took a sip of her drink and smiled.

He sat down next to her and started looking around before he filled his plate. Klaus was nowhere to be seen and it looked strange to him. He would never, ever miss a meal. Noel removed those thoughts and filled his plate.
“Not much”, he answered, looking at her. “You?”

Audrey shrugged.
“Walking around” she just said and took a piece of meat in her mouth. She chewed it slowly and looked over at the table where most Slytherins sat. She glared at them, and they stared back at her, pretending to fall over on the floor, as a way of mocking her. She clenched her left hand, considering walking over there to punch their smug little faces. She would probably get away with it, since she was the victim here. She didn’t feel like trying her luck though, since one of them was a Prefect. She focused on her food instead. She looked at Noel.
“You seem quiet, is something wrong?” she asked and raised her eyebrow. He seemed so…. Quiet. Quieter than before, that was.

Noel didn’t see the other Slytherins mocking Audrey. It didn’t matter though - he wouldn’t have done anything if he saw them. He didn’t want his own house to hate him, not even for Audrey. Slytherins went over any other house, especially Gryffindor. He shoved some meat into his mouth and chewed it as he turned to Audrey, whom had started talking.
“What?” he asked, genuinely confused. He swallowed the food that he had in his mouth before he continued. “No, no, of course not!” But he lied. A little. It worried him that Klaus wasn’t there, it really did. But he was probably just late. It’d be stupid to worry about it.

Audrey just half listened to the answer. She looked around the room, trying to avoid the Slytherins. She saw Eric, and John, sitting in a conversation. The head table was filled, and it seemed like the whole school was in the Great Hall at the same time. Everyone was hungry, apparently. She looked at her food again, hoping that Noel would finish quickly so she could get out of there.
“You’re thinking of doing something after dinner?” she asked and looked at Noel.

Everyone was in the Great Hall. But not Klaus, nor his partner. Where they still in Hogsmeade? Had something happened to them? Hell, if Klaus was dead, Noel seriously had no friends left. Which was, he quickly realized, an unbelievably selfish thought. But he wouldn’t have any friends. It was sad but really true. He was lost in his nervous thoughts when Audrey spoke again, making him flinch. He had forgotten about his surroundings completely.
“Uh”, he started, forcing a smile. Hoping that she didn’t notice him flinching. “N-no.”

Audrey frowned.
“Dude, you’re not with me here at all, you’re spacing even more than I do, and that says something” she said and grinned.
“Something’s up, just tell me already? I’m going to find out anyway, with me being your partner and all” she said and raised her eyebrow. She wasn’t very good at reading people, but she could see that something was wrong, since he usually (at least during these three days) hadn’t been lost in thoughts once.

Had he really been that obvious? Seriously? He moved his gaze from his plate to her and shook his head, still wearing the forced smile on his lips. He didn’t want to spread his stupid worries.
“There’s nothing wrong”, he said, sounding quite believable. “I promise.” Lying felt bad and he felt an ounce of guilt on his shoulders. Wasn’t he going to stop lying?

Audrey shrugged.
“Whatever you say” she said and put down her utensils. She covered a yawn, which made her think of the green potion that was on her nightstand right now. She had considered sleeping in the Room of Requirement, in case the potion just made things worse. She scratched her neck and looked at Noel, and then down at her plate again. She wasn’t sure what to say, she still felt a tension from the afternoons squabble.
