“It doesn’t matter”, he muttered for an answer. He looked out at the students. Three girls sat with their wands out; probably trying some new spell. He didn’t turn around to look at her when she joked, he just laughed and continued looking. After a while, after she put bandages on, he placed his hand on her knee. He didn’t know why; but touching her felt great. He turned to face her, meeting her blue eyes.
“Sure you don’t want to go to madame Pomfrey?”, he asked, quietly.

Audrey listened to his answer. He sounded a bit distracted, but she decided not to ask him about it. When he placed his hand on her knee, she flinched, and then relaxed. She wasn’t used to people touching her, and she realized that she liked it, at least when Noel did it. She put her bandaged hand above his, to show him that the flinching didn’t mean for him to remove his hand from her knee. She shook her head.
“I’m okay. I guess it’s a muggle thing. Imagine having to tend to every little wound by yourself and suddenly land in a world where everything can be fixed with the flick of your wand. It’s a prestige thing, just to let myself know that I can handle it, you know? It was the same when I woke up at the hospital after the burning incident, my body recovered on its own, without the use of magic. It’s kind of amazing what the body can endure and handle by itself” she said and shrugged.

He felt her flinching and was ready to remove his hand, but let it stay there when he felt her hand on his. Her comment annoyed him, strangely. It wasn't weird or anything, but in Noel's ears it sounded like she didn't appreciate magic. And if it was one thing that Noel himself appreciated, it was magic.
"Well, you can handle it with magic", he said, trying his best to hide his annoyance. How could she stop herself from using magic? Why would anyone choose to do things the muggle-way instead of just using magic? "I just think that we magicians should use our powers to the furthest."

Audrey nodded.
“I know, and it is amazing what we can do as witches and wizards, but I think the magical people forget how much we can do without magic as well. Sometimes, it’s necessary to do it the hard way. Sure, if my knuckles won’t heal in a couple of days, I’ll probably use magic. It’s just when it comes to the human body, it’s easy to forget that it is, in its own way, magical without the magic, if you get me? As I said, it’s a muggle thing, probably hard for you wizard borns to understand” she said and grinned. She loved magic, every little bit and spell of it, but she still wanted to stay in touch with her muggle side, even though her parents had been pieces of shits.
“There are so much hate towards the muggle- and muggleborns, even halfbloods, and if we let go of that part of us completely, the hate will keep growing even faster” she said and sighed.

He shook his head in disagreement. How could one want to endure pain instead of fixing it, if you had the ability to? It didn't make any sense to him. Besides, bandages looked like crap.
"Seriously?" he removed his hand from her knee and took a step away from her. "If all muggleborns just adjusted to our world and let the muggle-stuff be in the muggle-world, the hate would be gone. It wouldn't be anything to hate anymore."

Audrey looked at him and blew air from her nose. Why this sudden attack? She jumped of the sill and coughed.
“Adjusted to your world? Do you know what huge change we are going through when there is a knock on the door, and a person tells you that everything you thought was a fairy tale is actually real? And after that, you are expected to leave home and your family and go into this world where your family and friends can’t possibly visit you. It’s not as easy to let go and adjust as you think” she said. Her voice was calm, but inside of her raged a storm. She would like to see him try go through a huge change without anything to hold on to.
"It's not the muggle stuff that are the problem, it's your approach to it. Just because it's made or invented in the muggle world doesn't mean it's idiotic och wont be useful here" she said and looked in his eyes.

He waved his hand at her to show that the subject was dismissed. Even though she sounded calm he understood that she was upset and he didn't want to fight. Some fights just weren't worth it.
"Whatever", he sighed and cut the eye contact.

Audrey raised her eyebrows at his handwaving.
“Yeah? You dismissing a discussion about a topic that you brought up? Or did you realize that I have a point?” she teased and grinned. She leaned towards the wall and looked at him. She didn’t like the way he had cut eye contact. She hadn’t said anything that could make him upset, right? More like the other way around. Then why was he so stiff all of a sudden? It was like they were back on square one, something that Audrey really, really didn’t want or like.

He didn't like her way of thinking about the subject and he really didn't enjoy her teasing.
"You just don't understand", he said, looking at her again. How could his thoughts about her change so quickly? Did her opinions about different things mean that much to him?Was he more of a Slytherin than he thought?

Audrey looked at him.
“Then explain it to me. I’ve tried to adjust to this world for the last 6 years, I still have stuff to learn” she said and gesticulated with her hands.
“It’s not easy, coming from literally another world” she said and sighed. She looked at him, and wished that they were back in the bathroom, having fun and talking. Not standing in a hallway, having a discussion. Obviously, they hadn’t change as much as she had hoped. Neither of them.
