"So they figured you'd do allright with a demon then?" Merc chuckled, hell, children wasn't even on his bucket-list. Even though he did once get with a single mother and then took care of her child. Later in life that child became a horrible axemurderer so he kind of decided against children. Then again, it was more or less his mothers fault as well because Merc thought himself a very good substitute father.
They entered they ice cream shop and the yellow building was quite cozy inside. Not really what he had in mind though since he really thought the 50s was completely out of style. But this looked like he just stepped into another time period. If there wasn't modern day folk there, he'd think he actually did just that. Jumped through time... yeah, that has happened. Angels and demons had that tech if they had to suddenly prevent something horrible to occur... or they other way around. However it was very risky so most of the time you avoided it. "So what kind of ice cream do you want?" Merc said as he looked at the menu, he would probably just do chocolate or something. Imagination wasn't his strong suit for the moment. . .

"Kinda", Naeva said thoughtfully. "I haven't really fully understood it yet myself."
When they entered the ice cream shop she watched Merc to see his reaction at the place, but she didn't know what she had expected. She couldn't really read him in a good way. Instead she told him she wanted chocolate and strawberry. Now she couldn't stop thinking about what her parents had said. If Merc had truly been a seraph there would be some documents of it... In Heaven. And Heaven was about the only place she couldn't get into and didn't really want to either. But... sure would Hell have some kind of library too? She switched to one of the many dead languages when she talked with Merc. "Hey, Merc, is there any chance there's a big library in Hell? With records about demons? Who they were before and all? My parents said something about a demon and now I have to check it out but I can't get into Heaven if I ever want to return. And, if there is such a library, can you take me there?" ( I highly doubt there's any records of it though... But there's probably volumes of all the shit he's done. )
"I swear, you won't find any weirdo demon-rituals that prevents angels from having babies, we only have those for humans. Remember Anne Boleyn? Those rituals are the sole purpose she couldn't have a son", Merc said and made sure she got her ice cream safely. She did seem very preoccupied. Did she suspect something... wait... what was he doing? This was perfect! "Or maybe they've updated it since last time... hmm, I guess it's worth checking out", he continued with a devilish grin and grabbed her hand again or rather tried his hardest too. "There's a hellgate nearby actually, unless one of the angels have decided to close it", Merc said not mentioning the fact that he had been kind of responsible for it even existing. Finn had reluctantly opened it a few decades ago so Merc could go to this area just to... travel away again. It was just easier to travel shorter distances. "Let's go", he said and chagned his grip to hold her around her waist instead before a small zapping noise was the only thing he left behind as he teleported them to the location. The location was this totally destroyed ruin, once it had been a church. Finn had loved the irony of soiling a house of god with a hellgate. So, Finn had placed a hellgate within the large tomb they now stood in front of. Well, that now creaked open like a beasts mouth as it gaped to swallow them. "Hey, I realized, this hasn't been used in a while... we could end up in the plains..." He dramatically shivered. "... hate that place, here take my bag for a moment", Merc said and gave it over within a second. "Wouldn't want Holo-Merc getting swallowed by some hellmonster, right?" His joke was a total cover-up since he then quickly descended down the stairs and through the hellgate. Nothing, just inte middle of the town. There were hundreds of hellgates around the town square, every single one gaping and all of them were labeled. "London" "New York" "Ebeltoft" All kinds of places, however... there were also the few scorched squares where hellgates had once been. When one is rarely used it is put out of business. It ends up in the plains, the plains were dark and a place for the utmost horrid creatures of hell. Merc quickly peeked out of the hellgate again. "Hey, it's safe! They made some improvements to the gates on this side! Come on in!" He said and waved at Naeva to follow before disappearing into the portal once again. . .

Naeva felt bad. First of all she didn't get her ice cream. Not fair. She really wanted that ice cream. Especially after a taste.
But then she felt bad as soon as they got near the portal. Her body was fighting against her. She shouldn't be here. And this portal wasn't supposed to be here. She had ordered all of them shut when she moved into the town. She wanted to back, and run home. She wanted to fly. Her instincts told her to fly away. Fly back to Heaven. Her muscles were trying to use the wings which didn't exist. Then, at the same time as Merc threw her the bag she felt the presence of a Reaper. Or, well, rather their scythe. She was sick right away. She could feel how she started sweating. How she wanted to puke. How the fever attacked her like the Reaper was standing right next to her. She felt like she was dying. She stumbled into hell on shaky legs. Away, away from the Reaper. Then when she was in hell she let go of Merc's bag and turned around to puke. Right on the ground. She didn't feel better later though. No, she was still dying. She wasn't supposed to be here. Her body was failing her. She was not supposed to be here during any circumstances. No wonder she hadn't been here before. Every instinct in her body screamed at her to turn around and go back. She looked back at the portal and expected the Reaper to get in after her. She could still sense it's scythe. What was happening to her body? She started to have trouble breathing. 6 nov, 2015 18:49 |

Merc wasn't really sure what he expected, he had heard of the effects Reapers had on angels. He just didn't think that actually applied to the scythes. However, Merc was quick to pick the bag up and literally pull the scythe out of it. The technology was completely out of order, the small inputs were not happy with it's new surroundings and Merc clicked on the few buttons that were actually present on the black finish. Well, it's currently black finish. Merc grabbed the small ring and attached it to the scythe. With a silent small protest the technology ceased to fight him, going back to its true order and Merc toyed a little bit more with the controls and it was nice enough to turn into a more adaptable ring that closed around his thumb.
"Threat removed, you should be feeling better soon, I should've taken that into account. I thought the new abilities the seraphs added was to scare you guys away from Reapers not their scythes" He continued since Hell didn't have the throwing up effect on angels, fallen nor winged. If it did Lucifer would be very, very dead by now. "The library is pretty close so if you still want to go there it's not far at all" Merc squatted carefully next to her, expecting at least a punch or something. That just made sense, really. . .

She was still sick. She just wasn't sure of what she was reacting to. She wanted to puke. But her shaking was the one in control right now. She looked at Merc and then the scythe and then... She had never reacted to a Reaper, she had reacted on how close the scythe had been. And she was still reacting. On Hell. Or on the scythe. Or on Merc. Or on herself. She had just became a traitor. Now she didn't have a chance to get back to Heaven any more. Before she had had that chance. And she knew she was going to take it one day. She was just enjoying a vacation. Of course she was going to go back to being a guardian angel. That was her lift. She just waited on the seraphs to realize their mistake.
Now, on the other hand, if they let her into Heaven that would be their mistake. "My parents were definitely wrong. You could never be a seraph. Not even before Hell. No. You just... used me, didn't you?" She couldn't believe it. No wonder she hadn't had the time to even finish her ice cream. If things had gone slower maybe she would have understood. She drew one of her daggers - one with the magical angel-blade - and threw it towards Merc as fast as she could. If it even hit he wouldn't die, she just wanted to hurt him. No one was going to care about her. If he did something bad with the weapon there would be a war going on so everyone would be too busy to execute her. And she had already lost everything. Now she had lost her pride too. She had been priding herself for her perfect work. Priding herself for being one of the best. Now she was one of the worst. She had nothing except Cleo left. He just took everything from her. She lost everything she had left. Her fucking pride. She didn't have her pride left. The emptiness conquered over the sickness and she fell to the ground while she looked up to she if she had been able to pierce that god damned demon somewhere. 7 nov, 2015 23:58 |

It hit, in fact, he let the dagger hit. It burnt like hell but he didn't really mind it and pulled it out. Perhaps he didn't mind because in hell... most angelic tech was useless but the magic still hurt him.
"Well, that was a useful observation", Merc said that in such a matter-of-fact tone that even Finn would be proud of it. "Was that what you were here to check? As if I would be a seraph, that's bullshit... damn you're quick throwing accusations around though", he continued and he was still beside her, holding her dagger out to him. "Get my heart next time, but you probably assume I don't have one, right?" Merc was still hellborn, because he could not be a seraph, that was the funniest thing he had heard in centuries. "But mind you, I didn't even flinch in helping you getting into the library down here and that wasn't because I needed to get the scythe in" Merc said and met her look with determination. "The library is off-limits to anyone that isn't hellborn, bringing you into it would get me a permanent ban from this place, my home. Angels don't know that though, because all of your records only talk about the demons that has gone rogue or tried to kill one of your precious offspring", Okay, okay. Fine! Merc might've lost his temper because he was, in fact, never to be allowed back into hell because she wanted to know something that he could've told him. "Our records tell our stories as if we're failures so no, you wouldn't have found any angelic records at all. We're never allowed to have them, we're allowed to be names in databases as demons you've slain, you've conquered, you've diminished. The thing you just did with the scythe was to save Cleo, since her fucking name was still engraved in it" Merc rose quickly and a sudden smirk was on his face. "Then again, you angels probably don't care right?" He laughed a bitter laugh. "Because as long as it's your name that'll be signed up in some record as a success you never care who gets the bottom line, welcome honey! You finally feel how it is to be completely and utterly crushed due to circumstance. Feels bad, doesn't it?" Indeed, Merc could be very passionate about things at times. One of the things was how badly treated demons was... how badly they treated themselves. Demons only wanted to be like the angels, he had known demons who had tried so hard to find redemption and then been turned away. A fucked system and somehow when everything was settled humans ended up getting the results. So if Merc got rid of the death sins then he'd still help the humans and with the death sins gone perhaps demons would dare tread out of bounds in a better way... for once. . .

Naeva looked at him like he had gone insane. And he had, at least for her. "Don't you fucking dare. I asked you if you could take me down here. I asked! You just threw that bag at me and made me think there was a Reaper breathing down at my neck! I didn't use you! If you had said no I would have found out another way to check if there's a seraph that has been thrown out of Heaven in such a way no one even talks about me."
She felt that disgusting feeling of helplessness and powerlessness. She was fighting tears of anger. But, then, her anger was bigger than all her negatives feelings that threatened to drown her. "My name?" She actually laughed. She couldn't even understand where the sound came from before she realized her lips were moving. "Do you really think I would have saved Cleo if I just had wanted my name on some fucking list? Or even talked to you? Or humans? Or Linda? Or anyone. I pride myself for being one of the best, because I usually know what is right and what is wrong. And, letting a Reaper kill was wrong. And judging you just because you are a demon was wrong." She was furious. Because, somewhere deep inside of her she actually still cared about Merc. He hadn't been one of those awful demons who just ran around killing people. She went silent for a while. "I never cared about the rules as long as they were wrong. I tried to protect the one I loved. Maybe you are just a demon if you think that is wrong. Demon..." She laughed again. She wasn't feeling good at all. "Wow. I actually thought the word demon had too much bad stigma and had been thinking about you as just a guy. Looks like we both read each other incorrectly." She took her dagger and tried to stand up. "I refuse to be a name. I'm an action. Just as I became on of the first higher up female guardian angels I will fucking fix the shit that is going down now. So, goodbye, Merc, I'm off to kill a seraph or two." She just decided it like that. She was tired of that stupid justice system. They had failed with taking back an angelic weapon from a demon. And now it was in hell. And she still didn't have her wings. She was gonna get her wings back. And grace and that ridiculous hovering halo. She needed her key to Heaven. I need to meet my parents , she thought. Yes... They were close to the seraphs. Heaven was running slow. And now that she had lost everything she was ready to take everything. She was going to fix Heaven. She almost laughed again. She was probably the one who had gone insane. "Why won't my legs move, Merc?" she asked him before blacking out. 8 nov, 2015 00:42 |

Merc seriously laughed out loud when she fell, once again it was a bitter one. An action? Seriously? Even getting completely destroyed by a seraph was just a name in some record. That's how they lived, that's how angels and demons lived on. In records. Thousands upon thousands.
Still, Merc wasn't one to leave a guardian angel in Hell, wingless or no. Who knows what the more evil ones could do to her? "Why bring a wingless angel into Hell, wretched deviant?" A voice asked behind him and Merc grinned brightly when he turned to face Leviathan. Envy itself, gave Merc a weird vibe too. "Because, as she said, she asked me to" Merc replied and picked her up. "She never asked you to get her out, didn't she?" Leviathan rumbled and Merc angled his head. "Well, it's because of you we have to leave, I did wonder why she felt so terrible, usually angels don't", Merc replied calmly and the smoking dark green figure quickly stood in front of him the smoke engulfing the three. "We know what you're up to, wouldn't such a beauty want to assist you in such a task?" His snake-like voice matched his appearance and Mercs grin grew wider. "As you already know, angels don't care about hell. She proved that just now, didn't she?" Leviathan laughed at this statement. "True, her whole speech was only about her and the angels as usual we're forgotten by all but our kind" Leviathans smoke grew at this realization. The realization that he wasn't worthy of attention from even a guardian angel. "Such a sad reality, to be so insignificant, right?" "We know what you're up to, low-life, we'll enjoy seeing you die as the insect you are" And with that Leviathan was gone, so naturally Merc went back into the human world. Now... he could try to treat her at her home but he couldn't get in there and he would need to work a little bit on the scythe. So he teleported to his house and luckily enough he didn't end up so far away. When he got inside he went to his lab and placed her on one of the couches present within. Leviathans smoke could have some paralytic properties... they could probably keep up for days straight. Thankfully Merc started working on the anti-dote instantly. -- A few hours went by and Merc had started working on the actual scythe again. Cleos name was erased, hell had some sort of resetting effect on the scythe evidently. Which was actually very intresting to him. Merc tried to take the data back but maybe the angels had thought demons too meaningless to be worthy of consideration. The fact that the only thing Naeva mentioned about Merc was that judging him on him being a demon was wrong. It was risible, the only reason she spoke to him was because he didn't act like the typical demon would've. If she had met Leviathan she would've acted differently because so would he. Also, his shoulder was still messed up due to that knife. Then he noticed that she was awakening and lifted the magnifying goggles of his eyes. He sat on a sofa opposite to her. "Welcome back to earth, there's a glass of anti-dote for Leviathans paralytic smoke on the table next to you, then you can get on your high horse again and go kill yourself on seraphs if you feel like it" Merc said with a sweet smile as he rose and went back to one of his many workbenches and grabbed another tool to mess with the scythe before settling down on the couch again. . .

She didn't want to move though. She just laid there and looked at the roof and listened to the sounds Merc was doing. She was going to miss him.
"I think I still have my mood swings. You never let me eat that ice cream", she mumbled. Then she stared at the roof again. "You know, one of my friends... her wings were cut off too and her grace and her halo and all that. Gone. A thousand years ago or something like that. She was one of my best friends. Never really had one after her. Point is, she wasn't supposed to be in hell forever. Angels generally use hell as an extreme prison - that's basically the reason why it was created, wasn't it? But the seraphs 'lost' her halo, so she doesn't have any access to Heaven any more. She wants to, though. I've sneaked her in a couple of times. If... If some other people were in control I think it could be better for the angels. I can't talk about the other demons. Some of them were humans, right? I don't have any jurisdiction over there." She said and tried to move her fingers. Well, they worked at least. "It's suicidal, but I know some others feel the same too. The seraphs have had the power for far too long. We need to fix Heaven before Hell gets too many vengeful angels." She didn't want to drink the antidote. That meant having to go back to reality. But she would make it. Somehow. An angel in Hell. Someone was going to talk about it. Half of Heaven probably already knew she had been there. Oh, well, if she was already a traitor she could create a rebellion. And she had a feeling that her mother was a power thirsty bitch. "One day I will have to take back that scythe. Before Heaven starts attacking Hell. That would be my fault too. Can't handle both Heaven and Hell at the same time... But for now I will sleep and pretend I don't have to hate you for using me. I liked having you in my life, dammit", she muttered and tried to turn around. She was able to. She let her hair fall before her face and hide it. "And, who knows? Maybe this is all just a bad dream and I will wake up in your arms, thankful for everything before Hell." 8 nov, 2015 01:41 |
